What I'm Loving Wednesday

I'm linking up with Jamie today for What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I'm {loving} that I have lots of new followers this week! Makes me happpy!! :D

I'm {loving} that I get to go to Longview this weekend to see my family!
My middle sister is pregnant and finds out if they are having a boy or girl on Monday! So I get to be in town for that. But so sad that Chris can't go with me because he has work on Monday/Tuesday. :(

I'm {loving} several new albums that came out yesterday!
My parents have a Rhapsody account so I am able to listen (legally!!) before I purchase.
David Crowder Band's "Oh For Joy"

Phil Wickham's "Response"

Shane & Shane's "The One You Need"

I'm {loving} that I'm having my first blate (blog-date) next week!!
Me and Megan (from Mackey Madness) are meeting up while I'm in Longview!!

I'm {loving} that the weather is cooling off!!
It did still hit 90 degrees here yesterday, but I know the cool weather is coming!

I'm {loving} my sweet husband!!
Last night I was stressing out about all the stuff I need to do before I go out of town this weekend and he very calmly asked what he could do and was so helpful! He's good for me. :)

Have a great Wednesday!!!

a little catch-up

I've been absent for a while and life has quickly kept on! Here is a random catch up of our last 2 weeks. :)

Wedding
My former co-worker, Kaila, got married last weekend! I drove to the wedding with a friend and it was so lovely!
Here are the buckets she had out for bottled water. I made the vinyl for the buckets! :)

Cute centerpieces! I looove gerber daisies!
Congratulations Derek and Kaila!

Flu Shot
I got my flu shot last Wednesday!
We already had our first flu patient at work at the beginning of September, so I decided as soon as they started offering the flu shot at work, I'd be getting mine!
This was my first flu shot that HURT! The lady mashed on my arm before she gave it saying she was "massaging my nerve, so it won't hurt so bad." Reeeally?
Well it didn't work. And then she "massaged" it again after giving the shot. Who does that??? And then it was sore for 4 days!
Anyways, last year's didn't hurt at all, so I know it depends on the person who does it.
Soo...get your flu shot!

Winner
I won my first blog give-away from Saving Money, Living Life! I won a prize pack from Carmex!
(Random, I know. But I'm a chapstick addict.)

Weekend
This weekend we spend Friday night in Dallas at Chris' parents house. Friday night we went out to eat and watched Rio. Cute movie! (At least the first 5 minutes were...I may have fallen asleep after that...)
Saturday we got up and went to Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the A&M/Arkansas game. You probably know how THAT turned out. Blagh.

Then Saturday night Chris and I met some friends at the House of Blues in Dallas for an awesome David Crowder Band concert!
David Crowder Band. This is their last tour. They are SO good live!

Gungor opened for DCB and it was an unbelievable performance. Hands down the best acoustic set Chris and I have ever witnessed.
The guy on the right is Kevin Olusola and is currently on the sing-off! His group is Pentatonix. You can listen to them here. He has sick skills!!
But really, as a group they were AMAZING.

You may recognize this song of theirs.

We picked up their "Beautiful Things" album before we left and it did not disappoint!

We drove back from Dallas last night and are back home and ready for the week!
Come back tomorrow for a giveaway with my Etsy store, HouseOfShep!

my favorite things: september edition

Maltese are prone to tear stains because of something the vet told me about their tear ducts. Scout was not lucky enough to avoid this pesky feature.
May 2010
See?
Well, I researched a little and asked the vet and he recommended Angel Eyes. So that's what we tried.
I found some on Amazon and bought the beef flavor. The medicine itself is a powder, so I had to figure out a way to mix it so Scout would actually eat it. At first I poured it on his food and he didn't eat for three days. Really. He eventually figured out a way to eat around it somehow. Then I mixed it with water. It smelled nasty. And he still didn't eat it. THEN I finally figured out if I mixed a tiny bit of water and peanut butter it's the perfect consistency to mix and he ate every bit of it.
We started Angel Eyes  at the beginning of May 2011.
May 31, 2011
 August 2011 (after Angel Eyes!)

The tear stains are gone. I think we are supposed to still do the medicine every so often, but we haven't in about 2 and a half months and they haven't come back. I'm glad we found an easy-ish fix to his tear stains!

Chris and I gave each other Toms for Christmas last year. Mine were too big (or so I thought), so I tried to take them back to the local place here where Chris got them but they never had my size. I eventually just gave up. Well, fast forward to late July. Chris and I got $15 vouchers for Toms and we each got a pair. When we got home from buying them, I tried my "old" ones on and they FIT! Not really sure if they shrunk or my foot grew or I'm crazy, but now I have 2 pairs of Toms! (I must mention that Chris just couldn't understand how they suddenly fit 7 months later..it's a mystery!) :)
Here are our newest ones.

For my birthday, my parents got me this ice cream/yogurt maker. I remember our old ice cream maker that took 27.5 hours to make homemade ice cream, not to mention the pounds of rock salt you had to use. (maybe I'm being dramatic, when I was little it seemed like a looong time) Well, this little sucker only takes about 20 minutes to make!! You do have to then put it in the fridge for 2 hours, but it's so worth it!
I made strawberry and vanilla so far, but it came with a recipe book with all sorts of DELICIOUS recipes!
Here is our nephew Kaden helping make the strawberry ice cream.

I didn't use to love OJ, until I found Simply Orange. It seriously tastes like a freshly squeezed orange, but with no pulp. I usually get the Calcium rich kind, mostly because I know it's 'better' for me and it doesn't change the taste at all.
And then...I found Simply Lemonade.
and Simply Lemonade with Raspberry.
AND Simply Apple. Geez.
So here's my 2 cents on each of them. (because you know I had to try them all!)
Lemonade....don't love it.
Lemonade with Raspberry....it's grown on me. Chris LOVES it. I usually add water to it, about 1/3 water, 2/3 lemonade.
Apple....this one seriously tastes like you are sucking on an apple. I know that would be difficult to do, but just imagine with me! It probably tastes the most "fresh". Love it!
(They also have Lemonade with lime and Lemonade with grapefruit. We don't like either of those fruits, so I haven't tried them.)

That's my September edition of my favorite things! I'll be back next month with more!

10can change the world!

I'm {loving} volunteering with the children's ministry at church!
I started in the toddler room this past week and am so glad to be back with children's ministry!

I'm {loving} this cute Target giftcard I got for someone this week!
It's a water gun!

I'm {loving} that I get to see my sweet friend, Megan this weekend!
[at my Longview bridal shower, July 2009]
[we were in College Station at the same time! February 2009]
It's time for an updated picture of the two of us!

I'm {loving} pinterest!
I know I know, it's obvious. There's much to love about Pinterest. But since I haven't mentioned it on my blog yet, I'd thought I would today.
I love it.
I've cooked a few new recipes, I've gotten tons (maybe too many) ideas for holiday decorations, gift ideas...agggh. It's an obsession! You can follow me if you need to feed your Pinterest habit.

I'm {loving} my man!
This semester we are co-leading the college small group at church. Chris has been blessed with the gift of speaking. That's why he loves teaching, probably because he is good at it! He spoke at our first meeting last week and I was so proud! It had been a couple years since I had heard him speak/teach and I was impressed and reminded at how engaging he is when he is in front of a crowd. Just another reason I love him. :D
